lily (supposed to be sleeping): mommy, I don't want to sleep in my princess bed (what we call her bed)
Steph: well, you need to go to bed now
L (annoyingly): mommy I need a drink.
S: go to bed, honey.
L: mommy, I want to sleep in the blue bed!
S: what's the blue bed?
L (pointing): that one.
S: elliot's bed?
L: yes
S (trying to be calm): you can't sleep with elliot. sorry
L (frustrated): but I don't want to sleep in the princess bed
S (thankfully, not frustrated): why?
L: Because I'm a queen!
S: Its ok. Queens can sleep in that bed, too.
L (confused): oh...
...yes, I probably should have spanked her, but the conversation was priceless... and there wasn't a peep from her after that. I guess that answer was finally sufficiently explanatory for a three year old. What reasoning skills she has!

Hello Shores Family - it's Jenny O. who lives in China and is presently in Bangkok waiting for baby Lola to come. So I read your dialogue with Lily at bedtime and had to laugh because we have very similar conversations at least every other night. It's like a game - Find the Appropriate Excuse That Will Prolong This Going To Bed Routine. Add to the list... I need apple juice, gotta go poopoo, need my baby, I just can't sleep right now... Oh it is cute sometimes...well you obviously know! Hope you guys are doing well!
