Lily, the mother

Lily doesn't like taking a nap alone, so sometimes we let Jed be in with her during her nap time (she rarely sleeps anyway, and its nice to have someone else entertain him so I can get some things done). She sleeps on a mat in the playroom and comes and gets us if she has any trouble. Well, about a week ago, she comes out of her room and says "Jed's crying [normal], so I put him in his bed [what??!?!]." Panicked, I run upstairs fearing the worst, and there's Jed, in his bed, as if I had put him there. I said, "Lily, how did you do that? Show mommy what you did." So, she did.

Here is an easy eight-step process for any of who who want to teach your 4 year old to put a four month old into a pack-n-play by herself:

Step 1: Pull up small child by his armpits onto the couch positioned next to pack and play,
Step 2: get said child settled onto the couch laying perpendicularly to the side of the pack and play,
Step 3: pull him up again by his arms to sitting position,
Step 4: lift feet over the arm of couch
Step 5: push his feet over the side of the pack and play,
Step 6: lower him down until he is standing (don't let go!),
Step 7: lower him further so that he can sit (don't let go), and
[finally] Step 8: let him go so he can lay down.

Brilliant!

Now, we did explain that she is never to pick up her brother again (for the grandma and nana reading this), but who couldn't be proud of such a big girl!

Way to go Lily! I had visions of what Malachi would have done at her age...it wasn't pretty. Glad Lily did well. And, WAY TO GO SAM! I love that kid. Makaria is almost totally potty trained. It's amazing, so I can sympathize with the excitement at ever step.

Great job Lily! You sound just like a little girl (Big Sister) that I knew years ago. We will share stories another time.
